Questions
- Do I need a credit card to start?
- No. Every workspace starts on Free with no card and no time limit. Each product has a free allowance every month; when one runs out it pauses until the 1st, so you're never charged.
- How does pay as you go work?
- Add a card and you get a free tier every month: the same allowances as Free, but 1M analytics events instead of 50K. Usage beyond it is billed per unit on the 1st, and the more you use, the less each unit costs. There's no base fee: a month inside the free tier costs $0.
- Can I cap what I spend?
- Yes. Set a monthly billing limit for each product under Settings → Plan & usage. When a product reaches its limit it stops recording until the 1st, and workspace owners and admins get an email at 80% and at the limit, so the bill never goes past it.
- What happens when a product runs out?
- Only that product pauses: analytics stops recording page views and clicks, session replay stops starting new recordings, error tracking stops capturing errors, or Scout hands new questions to your team inbox. Guides, checklists, surveys and the help center keep working. Everything resumes on the 1st, or straight away when you upgrade or raise the limit.
- When does usage reset?
- On the 1st of each month (UTC), which is also when pay-as-you-go invoices go out. Unused allowance doesn't roll over.
- Is everything included on every plan?
- Yes. Free and pay as you go have the same features. Pay as you go removes Free's 20-guide limit and lets usage continue past the free allowance.
